Things may have appeared silent here this week, but that is because we have been packing up our house. No matter how many times we have done this, it never seems to get easier. It is simply hard having to decide whether to get rid of something or not. One thing is for sure, we are getting more ruthless every time. But this is the first time we have had to be ruthless in discarding Abigail's toys. We have managed to shield her from most of it, but I cannot imagine this task getting any easier either in years to come.
Today was moving day. We had tried our best to give lots of things away and throw lots of things out. We had also tried our very level best to sell our furniture. In the end we have sold our couch, desk, two chairs and office drawers, for far less than we had hoped. We are not complaining about the price, we just wanted to get the furniture off our hands and get something for it. Thankfully we have found a solution to store our bed and and armchair. (We wanted to store the bed, but still wanted to sell the armchair.)
We rented a truck today. Tom came over and helped load the truck. It may not have been as much as a regular move but it was still hot work in the middle of Summer. We are exhausted now at the end of the day after moving and then attempting to clean the whole apartment. We nearly finished that off, just a couple rooms to sweep up.
Up until now, Abigail has been handling this move really well. She has been excited that we are going to see Grandma and Grandpa. But today the sight of "our house" being empty was just a bit too much for her to take, so she had a good outpouring of grief and tears while we were cleaning up.
We still have a couple more days left in Russia, and I will still attempt to take one more good photo. Let's see if I can pull it off.
"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Moving is always hard and there seems to be nothing more desolate than a home that has been stripped of everything that made it home for you. I can well understand Abigail's grief and am thinking of you all.
I think its also the length of time it takes to move that is hard on Abigail. There is nothing you can do about it of course since it takes time to do all you need to do but children always ask "are we there yet" and expect departures and arrivals to be simultaneous.
