"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Easter cake follow up

I mentioned at Easter time the Russian tradition of the Easter cake. I tried to find out its meaning and turned up a blank. A Russian friend of mine, Kostya, kindly took the time to research this for me and came up with this answer:

"I found some information about Easter cake (kulich, or paskha/кулич, пасха), and the tradition to colour eggs. . The [easter cake] is an "arthos", or yeast bread, which is blessed during Easter (Paskha) at the orthodox temples, and is said to be the "bread of higher rank of blessing". The key phrase there in the article is that "partaking of the paskha (passover) and kulich shall remind us of the partaking of the true Chist's Passover, and that it shall unite all the believers in Jesus Christ."

Paul calls Christ "our [true] Passover". In 1 Corinthians 5:7"

Thanks Kostya.
