Getting around and back again

Well we have tried to show Dan something of what our life consists of and something of life here in Novosibirsk. The other day we were sitting in a fast food place in the city centre. A girl sat down at the table next to us. She looked native Siberian. I said to Melody that we should talk to her. It turns out that Olya is Sakha. She became a believer during her time as a student in Irkutsk, a southern Siberian city. Olya is from a small city in the northern republic of Yakutia. She is on her way to Germany to be a nanny and possibly do some further study. Last night we had Olya around for dinner, we had a great time of fellowship with her. We encouraged her that her greatest priority in Germany is to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus. We are conscious of the fact that young people can go back to their communities and face a lot of opposition to their new found faith.
It was a blessing for us to meet with Olya. We felt that if she lived here we would really like to get to know her, but we also know that it is right and God's will for her to go to Germany at this stage of her life. Please seek the Father for her protection and growth.
This is what our life consists of: studying Russian and developing relationships with young indigenous peoples when ever we have the chance.

After lunch we walked down to central park. It turns out that all of the decorations were being taken down. We were a little late. It was a nice sunny day though.


Today we tried to take Dan to the museum, to show him a little Siberian history. Alas, it was closed today for cleaning. That's Russia sometimes, you just gotta take things as they are and come back another day. Unfortunately for Dan, the days are running out and we won't be able to take him back there.



But there have been plenty of smiles and good times together. We will take him down to Akademgorodok on Saturday.
