It's the day after Mom and Dad have left and we are all feeling a little sad and flat. It was certainly nice to have them stay with us for a few weeks.
So much water has gone under the bridge in the last year and a half that we had a lot of catching up to do. For me anyway, it only felt that regular contact became normal towards the end of our time here. It has been more normal to not have extended family in our lives. And then as quickly as it became normal, they are gone again. I can't add a lot more to that right now except to say, that we are in the right place.
Mom and Dad wanted to see our regular lives. To an extent we managed to pull this off. Our schedule was still coming together while they were here. But schedule struggles are a part of our normal life. Aside from our normal scheduled life we did manage to show them around Krasnoyarsk.
Here is a summary of the many things they got to do while here in Krasnoyarsk with us:

* Minigolf
* Bike riding on Tatyshevo Island
* Zoo
* River boat trip
* Visiting the Krasnoyarsk Sea (hydro electric station damn), where Dad and I swam in the cold water.
*Circus
* Shashlik (Russian equivalent of a BBQ) in our local forest
* Folk festival in town square
* Fountains at night in town square
* Train station (but alas no trip on the train to Lake Baikal.... next time)
People they met from our lives
* Katya, our Evenki friend
* Varya, Masha & Nikita, our Sakha friends
* Sonya and Oleg our neighbours
* Kostya, my long time friend
* Tanya, Melody's friend
* Sergei, our Evenki friend
* Kolya, Afanasy- Sakha students
* Tim and Iris, our team mates
* Garry and Christy, Aussie friends who live here
* Jamie (Lucas was sick)
* Catherine, Karen, for an early Canadian Thanksgiving
Other activities-
* Lots of walks around Akadem where we live
* Playing with kids in the playground and at home (and allowing Melody and me to go on three dates)
* Feeding the birds and squirrels
* Tasting various Russian foods

Hey, very cool little slide show. Feeling both happy and sad for you - it's great that they were there but always so hard to say goodbye when are homes are so far apart. Abigail looks like a gorgeous little girl - you must be doing something right with her!!

We have the distraction of a holiday in Finland coming up tomorrow. Then we will have plenty of work to come back to, which is always a good thing.
