Look what we found at our local market! Yes, it's reindeer meat. This is minced. The people there said that it does not come as often in the Summer, but they expect it a lot more in the Winter. (Probably to do with temperatures and transportation.)
We will hopefully be able to buy it often. Reindeer meat is more lean than beef, pork and lamb, but not than kangaroo. It's a good thing that we can hopefully support the Evenki people this way to help sustain their culture. We only wish that you could all do the same. (Well, if you live in Russia, you can!)
A translation for those who don't read Russian:
Traditional industry of the North.
Gifts of Evenkiya.
This product comes from Tura, the district centre of the Evenki Municipality. (Previously the capital of the Evenki Autonomous Territory.)
