Birds of Siberia
Due to popular request (from those brave enough to actually post comments on my blog!) here are some more pictures of Siberian birds. Such pictures are not easy to capture. The small bird is particularly fast and jumpy. The bigger bird looks like a Magpie with a blue streak (sounds dangerous hey!).

The smaller bird looks like a lark of some kind. The larger one may be a butcher-bird if it has a little hook on the end of its beak, otherwise related to crows/ravens like the Aussie magpie. What does it eat?

The smaller bird is, apparently, a wagtail (трясогузка/tryasoguzka in Russian), and is related to sparrows. They ARE extremely swift in their movements, and I could not capture them on my camera, so Paul, you did a great job to get such a close shot!
The bigger one is indeed a magpie (сорока/soroka - in Russian), and is related to crows. I have no idea what they eat in natural habitat, but in the cities they scavenge for anything eatible and non-eatible, are notorious for liking all the shiny objests, so they sometimes may try to steal earrings, shiny buttons or the like. There is a folclore saying that they "bring news on the tip of their tail".
