To the south of us live a rather large nation, the Kazakhs. They are also a traditionally nomadic people like the Siberians. There has been a movie released funded by Hollywood and the Kazakh government. It is about a historical moment in the nation of Kazakhstan in the 1700s when they fought off the Mongols.
The landscapes in the movie were majestic.
Melody and I were able to see the movie at the local cinema. The screen was big and the seats were comfortable although not as good as Chadstone or the Rivoli. The sound was ok, but one speaker cut out sometimes.
We were able to find a 16 year old girl to babysit, through some American friends. Abigail had a good time with her, and we think we should be able to ask Dasha to babysit again some time.
The movie was made in Kazakh but dubbed into Russian here. There were no subtitles. It is supposed to be released internationally, so look out for it in Australia. The film could be called "Nomad" in English although they may choose another title.
