"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

The real Ded Moroz

I noticed that in the evenings the lights come on down at the skating rink, along with music. It was "warm" enough the other evening so we went for a skate, because we had missed out during the day.

The next little surprise was that an old man invited us to go inside the little building by the rink. We had complained to ourselves that there is no bench to sit on to put on your skates. Well, when the little building is open there is somewhere, in warmth too. So we happily put on our skates and went out to the ice.

It had been snowing, so the old man was clearing the ice of snow. I decided to help him for a while, just for fun. The interesting thing, was who the man actually was. It was Grandfather Frost! Yes, the real Grandfather Frost. He's called Ded Moroz in Russian, and he is actually the cousin of Santa Claus. Ded Moroz, usually has Snegurochka, the snow maiden helping him with his work, but not on this occasion.

He was a lovely old man, who was quite happy to meet us. We are grateful for the pleasant experience that he makes ice skating in Akademgorodok.

I'm working on my own Santa Claus beard. One day it will be white and perfect for the task!
