"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Camping escape

My wife has a little joke, that every time she wants to go camping I resist, but when I get out there I absolutely love it. So thanks Melody for forcing me to go camping. Camping was something that we didn't have the freedom to do in Russia, mostly because we did not have a car and could not move freely around.
We meant to go camping in August, but never seemed to fit it into our schedule. Finally we reached breaking point and needed some private family space. We just wanted to run away, and managed to for about 36 hours. It wasn't quite long enough, but it was a great relief. We shall have to do some more camping in Australia if Melody can twist my arm!

My main reluctance this time was weather. Thursday turned out to be a very wet day, but we ventured out anyway. After our two and a half hour drive, we reached Anglin Lake, very close to where we got engaged, so it's a favourite spot of ours. When we reached the camping spot it was completely deserted (good) and raining (bad). But a shelter had been erected since the last time we had been there, and we managed to put up the dome tent under the shelter!. Abigail was quite intrigued by the activity of putting up a tent. "What are you doing? What are you doing?"

The weather was quite cool, but we managed to keep warm, with extra clothes and a fire. It was good to just have the space to enjoy creation and read a book.

The last photo is evidence that I need a better camera. Three times optical zoom just doesn't cut it, trying to catch birds on the lake. This is not a duck but a loon, it has the eeriest call. At night it sends a chill down your spine at first until you realise what it is. Then after a while, it becomes nice to listen to, when placed in proper perspective.

We actually only have a few weeks left in Canada now. Time will fly fast now, and then we will have to say goodbye to family again, which is never easy. Australia still holds some trepidation for me. Life is not so interesting these days, as you can tell by my less frequent blog posts.
