Russia's most liveable city

Every year in Melbourne we usually hear the results for "The World's Most Liveable City" competition. Invariably the title either goes to Melbourne or Vancouver. The two cities seem to trade off for the award year to year. A number of factors are taken into account such as cost of living, services, entertainment, accessibility to nature, health care, etc, etc. In general the award signifies that the city is the best city in the world to live in for over all quality of life.
When we came to live in Russia we knew we were giving a lot of this up. We also discovered that we did not like life in Novosibirsk very much. Novosibirsk was noisy, dirty and very polluted. The people were extremely rude. We had a hunch that things were just better when we came to live in Krasnoyarsk. Normally people say that the grass is greener on the other side, but I would have to say that it is actually greener where we live now.
Well our hunches were confirmed today. We were talking with a woman in the shop, who was very friendly. She asked why we were living in Russia. "Is it really bad in Melbourne?" "No, it's lovely there, but we want to live here to help the Siberian nations, etc..." This lady was very happy to hear this and turned out to be a believer too. She went on to tell us that just yesterday Krasnoyarsk won the title as the city with the highest quality of life in the CIS (former Soviet Union except the Baltic countries of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia). I checked this up on the internet just now, and sure enough, it's true. Krasnoyarsk is the most liveable city in Russia! And we're very happy to live here.
