"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Farewell to Khakassia

Today was our last day in Khakassia. Before visiting a different family we drove up a mountain pass to have a look at the view of the mountain range. Khakas people are Shamanists and so they always tie pieces of material to trees at mountain passes to appease the spirits for safety. Of course we had no need to do this as our safety comes from God.

This view shows the mountains of southern Khakassia which are quite empty of population; the mountains border on to Tuva, which we hope to visit in the Summer time.

On more than one occasion Khakas people have told me that the original Khakas all had red hair and blue eyes, but they were over run by the Mongols. This family also told me this story. So I think I can safely say that they liked me.
