The other day when we were changing money we got talking with the lady who works there. As we are foreigners it is easy for us to ask many questions that a Russian may not be able to. The lady Is Buryat. The Buryat are one of the larger Siberian peoples, as are the Yakut and Tuvans.
We would like to spend more time with the smaller peoples such as the Evenki, Khanty, Mansi and Nenets. However there will more likely be a greater presence of Yakut and Buryat people in the big city, simply because of their numbers.
This got us thinking. Yes we want to go north to where the smaller peoples are. But we will probably be in the big city for at least a few years. So we feel it is a good idea to relate to people such as the Buryat and Yakut while we are here.
As we build relationships with these people, maybe one day they will want to come to the north with us and share J love with the northern peoples along side with us.
You can pr. that we will have good opportunities to get to know people like this.
