Pushkin is perhaps Russia's most famous and celebrated writer. There is a town just outside of St. Petersburg named after him. It is kind of the "Akademgorodok" of St Petersburg, with two Universities, and a slower pace of life.
With Vova and Tanya at the Pushkin train station. Vova is Sakha. Vova and Tanya are preparing to do translation work.
A typical Pushkin street.
This is actually a new church. It is only around a year old. In pre-Soviet times there was also a church here. Then it was destroyed and replaced with a statue of Lenin. In recent times the Lenin statue was removed and then this new church was built. It seems that the Pushkin residents didn't want the Lenin statue much- it was moved outside of the town, but then a short while later it was mysteriously blown up.
The sequel to our visit to the Winter Palace was our visit to the Summer Palace in Pushkin. We did not enter- the entry costs are quite high for foreigners.
PJ was not too happy about missing out on seeing the inside of the palace. :)))

It's great to see photos of this town where I spent several happy days - and I remember the Lenin statue.
