"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Any excuse for a prazdnik

We took a little trip to the zoo yesterday with Mika and Outi. On the bus the conductor congratulated us on choosing to go to the zoo on the day of a Prazdnik (holiday). We on the other hand thought "drats, that means there will be lots of people there, it will be crowded." We asked her what the festival was for- "10 years since the construction of the ferris wheel."
Any excuse for a prazdnik is the Russian way. They have festivals for accountants, builders, hairdressers, dentists, you name it. This was actually the Soviet way of recognising all workers, and the tradition has continued. Still, a festival for a ferris wheel. I love that one! I'm still chuckling thinking about it.

Mika and his fiancee Outi. That's one of our Finnish friends getting married! We have a whole bunch of single Finnish friends. If only they would let us match make them. :)
