Here is a report of a recent visit to a rather small Siberian people group, less than 700 in total. Our team mates were able to visit one of their villages and begin a process of relating to the people and offering the hope of eternal life.
Greetings in the beautiful name of our risen Savior,
Thank you for your prayers. The road to the Chulym people was beautiful - still frozen solid everywhere. The Lord kept us safe the whole trip. The Chulym elder, was at home to meet us when we arrived. He and his wife have two sons around 20 years old. They recently lost their youngest and oldest sons. The Chulym people survive mainly off their fishing, hunting (sable pelts, moose, bear), berries, crops, livestock (horses, cows). We had a nice time of fellowship. Most importantly, the Chulym people understood that we sincerely care about their people group and are willing to work with them in whatever ways we can. They seemed to be very encouraged by our visit. Aleksander also agreed to translate the Good News text into his language and record it at a later date. Praise the Lord. Please pray for the Lord's anointing as the translation process begins. Andrei was able to help load a special font onto their computer that will allow for their language to be put in writing. Our friend Valeria in Tomsk has been working with the elder for a long time on getting the language in writing. This Good News project could be some of the first ever material written and recorded in the Chulym language. We invited our Chulym friend down to Krasnoyarsk to stay with us as he has some dental work done and visits with various officials concerning certain legal rights that have been given to the 'Small Ethnic Groups of Siberia.' Please pray that he would visit us soon and that our friendship would grow stronger. Obviously, continue praying also that he and the other Chulym people would gain a strong sense of their need for a Savior - their need for Jesus.
