We are on our way to Russia now. The last few weeks before departure have been quite hectic for us. The Lord has opened the way forward for us. Farewells are always emotional, but we are relieved to be returning to our home in Krasnoyarsk.
Thank to you the many of you who have been praying for us on the way. PJ did not throw up a single time on the plane, which was a real answer to prayer. We will be praying for the same on the way to Beijing.
We are spending a couple days with our friends Gary and Kim here in Singapore. We're very relaxed and peaceful right now. It's good to have some time in between the absolute hustle and bussle and the pressures or resettling and adjusting to life in Russia. We have no responsibilities at this minute, so we are thanking God for the well needed rest.

There was a funny example of this in that we had to leave home at 6am for a 10 am flight. The citylink freeway was already packed at 6 am in the morning. The security line at the airport in Melbourne was a zoo. We were required to check in 3 hours before our flight. Our arrival in Singapore was in stark contrast. We walked off the plane, there were few people around, we passed through passport control without having to wait at all. Then our bags were immediately waiting for us on the conveyor belt. We walked out the door and straight to a taxi, 15 minutes after getting off the plane. The drive was very peaceful, no heavy traffic.
It's great that there is even a long swimming pool here where Gary and Kim live, so we have been able to do our regular laps still.
On Sunday we are off to Beijing, for a further four days rest and a jaunt up the great wall. We will arrive in Krasnoyarsk on Thursday night.

did you ever hear the story of how much maple syrup the Norwegian coach got who handed our cross country skiier a pole and so helped her win a medal at the Olympics. You dont want that much maple! I believe it was measured by tons..... I imagine you use the maple flavouring because it lasts longer when Mel makes homemade syrup with it than the bottled syrup but you wouldnt object to the real thing either!
