"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Last shashlik for the year

(Blogged November 4th)
In September we did have a bit of an Indian Summer or "Grandmother's Summer" as it is called in Russian. There were some nice 20 degree days. We invited our good friends Masha and Varya for shashlik (Russian style barbecue. I.e marinated meat cooked over an open fire.) They also brought their friend Tanya along.
It was a perfect day for a picnic in the forest. Melody told the story of John 1. It was news for our friends. Somehow the idea of new birth in Jesus was not sitting with them. This left us with some discouragement, as they have been so open to the many stories we have shared with them, and the many times we have prayed with them.
We enjoy our friends, and hope that we are able to gently communicate the hope that we have within.
