"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

telephone update 2

Paul called this afternoon from a satellite phone belonging to the administration of Kellog. Thats right Kellog, they weren't supposed to be able to get to Kellog until Monday but an extra helicopter was added yesterday because there was a festival in Kellog. So they got to go to Kellog (the trip's main destination) a few days early. Whats also significant is that after enjoying the festival along with representatives of the local administration, they seem to have developed some repor with them, at least enough for a satellite phone call home! So that can only mean good things for the reindeer project. Paul also shared that he is saddened by how far the church seems removed from the locals, especially the Ket people.
Things are very good between Yura and Paul, Paul shared how he is continually impressed by Yura's maturity, grace and desire to share the good news. Even when he was refused communion in the local church (reasons still unclear) he handled it with grace and maturity. Yura has also be encouraging a local Ket believer that its ok to pray to God in the Ket language, a concept that had never ocurred to him.
Please continue to pray about personality struggles within the team, these are only intensified as now they are all living in one room of the pastors 2 room house. And praise God for the blessing of good favour with the administrators, and that this reindeer project will be received well. Sorry, I'm not sure when exactly Yura will be presenting to them. Sadly, our phone call ended abruptly when the reception fell out on his end.

This is great news - you'll be relieved Melody to know they have arrived safely and are this far into the trip. Hope you are keeping well and enjoying your time with Abigail.

thanks Sue-ann. Abigail and I are keeping well, and staying busy.

Paul did manage to call back later again yesterday, and the big meeting is planned for Monday. Please pray that Yura presents the reindeer project well, that it is received by the administration, that the church allows their members to be involved, adn that the right people can be found to be the first herdsman of their generation.
