Jukebox in Siberia?

There was a hit song in the 70s by an Australian rock band called the "Skyhooks" titled "Jukebox in Siberia". You would not believe the number of times I have had to put up with people joking "is there really a jukebox in Siberia?" This is as if to ask "is there actually a developed world in Siberia?; Can people actually live there?"
How about Cricket in Siberia? Can such a thing really exist? While gathering with a group of expats from OM today I suggested that we have a game of cricket. My only cricket bat is in Canada at the moment. Anyway, we walked down to the shop and bought a baseball bat and three tennis balls. This Aussie can proudly say that he fared very well against the three poms present. We had an enjoyable game. I'll have to import a cricket bat or two at some stage.
There were a few kids watching as we played. One particular girl kept running after the ball to throw it back to us. We kept inviting her to join and have a turn. She was reluctant. In the end she did have a bat and hit quite a few. This was really a joy to watch.
This leads in to one of my ideas for reaching Siberian indigenous people. They have a number of games and sports within their cultures. These games are for the purpose of showing physical strength and that the victor is a capable hunter. It is my hope to start up a Siberian Sports Club for students at the University, some time from September onwards, This could be a good opportunity for friendship building.
