"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."- St. Peter. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus.

Camping week

This summer we really wanted to do some camping. We had hoped to go camping shortly after arriving in Canada to have some down time and rejuvenate. June would have been a wonderful time go camping, as the kids would still have been in school it would have been quiet. But as it turned out June was rainy most of the time and camping was a bad idea.

We eventually got the chance to go camping in the week from July 16-20. We placed Abigail in a Christian kids camp called Okema. Okema was a highlight of Melody's child hood and something she dearly wanted Abigail to experience too. We actually went to Okema as a family back in 2008.

While Abigail was at kids camp, Melody, PJ and I went camping in a tent. We had a nice time, but we sure did miss having Abigail around!

We had planned to camp in one spot for the whole week. There's a quiet camping spot on Anglin Lake that very few people ever camp at. We have been there numerous times in the past when we were the only people camping. This year as we drove to the camping spot it turned out there was road construction happening on the road leading to and past our favourite camping spot. We managed to camp there the first night and there was no distraction at the time. The next morning however there was heavy machinery coming by every ten minutes. We had no choice but to pack up and leave.

The camping spot is perfect in so many ways. As there is no electricity there, the big RVs stay away. It is right on a lake too so the views are idyllic. It seems that so few people know about the spot, as the geese had made themselves completely at home on the banks of the lake.

After leaving Anglin Lake we felt like we had no place to go. We searched various camp grounds and eventually settled on something half way north to La Ronge at Lake Weyakwin. It's pretty hard to beat a lakeside camping spot. We had to make do with a spot surrounded by trees. It did have a very good camp fire spot though, and lots of fire wood to burn, with an axe for splitting wood.

We spent two nights at Weyakwin. It was a bit rainy while we were there. We did manage to take a couple of dips in the lake, but PJ found it too cold.

Friday rolled around and we were very happy to see Abigail again!
